Effective date: August 8, 2026
These Terms of Use govern your use of Steam & Steel, a single-player steampunk railway game that runs entirely on your device. Please read them before you start laying track. They are written to be plain and honest — there is nothing hidden in the sidings.
By downloading, installing, or playing Steam & Steel, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with them, please do not install or use the game. Using the game means you accept the terms as written here.
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play Steam & Steel on devices you own or control, for your own private, non-commercial entertainment. The game is licensed to you, not sold, and this licence does not give you ownership of the game or any part of it.
Steam & Steel uses a single in-game currency — gold — along with engines, track, cargo and Emporium upgrades that you build up as you play. Gold is earned only through play: by dispatching workings and collecting on arrival, through offline earnings from active routes while the app is closed, through consignment bonuses, and through the seven-day Founder's Dividend streak.
This gold and everything you buy with it — engines, branch lines, Emporium upgrades and the like — has no real-world or monetary value. It cannot be bought, sold, traded, transferred, or exchanged for real money or anything of value outside the game. There are no real-money purchases in Steam & Steel: nothing in the game costs real money, and there is nothing to buy. Your progress and gold are stored only on your device, and are cleared if you delete the app or use the fresh-start option in the Signal Box settings.
The game is for your personal enjoyment. You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, modify, tamper with, or attempt to cheat or alter the game or its saved data; not to use it for any unlawful purpose; and not to copy, redistribute, resell, or otherwise make the game available to others. Please keep it to your own line.
Steam & Steel, including its name, artwork, engines, region map, music, sound, text and code, is owned by its developer and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Aside from the personal licence to play described above, no rights are granted to you. You may not use the game's name or artwork without permission.
Steam & Steel is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the game will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the game. Because the game runs entirely on your device, keeping your device and its backups in good order is your responsibility.
Steam & Steel is suitable for general audiences of all ages. It collects no personal information, contains no advertising, no accounts, and no social features. For full details of how your on-device progress is handled, see the Privacy Policy.
These terms may be updated from time to time. When they change, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to play after an update means you accept the updated terms.
Questions about these terms or the game can be directed to the support channel listed on the app's App Store product page.
